Hello,
I'm new here and also to soap making... I've been thinking about investing in a laser thermometer but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Does anyone recommend a good laser thermometer?

Thank you,
J

Hi, hellaclean, and welcome! I bought a Ryobi infrared laser thermometer about a year ago at Home Depot for around $30. It's still going strong, and I can't imagine soaping without it.  Smiley

I want one too. Actually, Lowe's had one that was half off and I have regretted not getting it. It would have been about $25 if I recall.

I'm also new to making soap and have used my laser thermometer for all batches thus far. It is a Raytek MiniTemp MT6. I don't know the cost as it was a gift but I highly recommend it.

Oh Hellaclean - thank you for asking this question!
I just got done with a batch of castile and found one of my thermometers was not working ... arggg!

Jenny - Thank you for the great suggestion!  Having one infrared would be a great way to go!
